“God, I just don’t understand!“
Have you ever uttered those words. It seems like darkness is all around you, like God isn’t really hearing your specific prayers.
John 13:7 (NLT) says,
Jesus replied, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.”
God does things His own way and we just have to trust that He knows best. It’s as simple as that. That financial struggle that you are in, those wayward children, those stresses on the job can seem as if it is too much to bear. You try to move forward with hopeful anticipation in what God is doing and is going to do, but anxiety seems to rise up again at every turn.
“God, it seems like things are getting worse, yet I know that you are moving!”
God tends to only show us one step at a time. During these times, we must hold on to our faith and know that God is in control. Things may appear out of sync and out of place, but God knows what He is doing. He has an order to the steps that He is taking in our lives.
Hebrews 11:1 (NLT) says,
Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.
We must allow our faith to show the reality of what we hope for, when we cannot see it.
While we wait, we can worship the Lord, and in so doing, we can forget about all of our troubles and rest in Him. We can rest knowing that He’s got a plan and a way that He is choosing to bring about our deliverance. We have to trust in His ways, even when it doesn’t seem to make sense to us. We must choose to see with eyes of Faith.
God is with us every step of the way. He was there ten steps back. He is here in this current step and He will be there in the steps to follow.
I know it’s hard! I’m going through this cycle at this very moment. I just told God, “I just don’t understand it.” Within days, things have seemed to have gotten worse in one area; but yet, I feel God moving in another. Things don’t seem to line up.
Even though it seems dark, Jesus is the light of the world and His light is shining over my circumstances. He has something that He wants to do in these seemingly odd pieces to bring forth a reflection of His glory in my life. Every painstaking move that seems backward, is still God setting me up for an amazing deliverance. I don’t always get it, but I know that He has provided for this day and I have to let tomorrow worry about itself.
Matthew 6:34 (NLT) says,
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
“God, tomorrow stresses me because I just don’t know what’s next! But Your Word says, that I am not to worry about tomorrow. So I will let You lead the way.”
Psalm 139:5-6 (NLT) says,
5 You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!
God is everywhere that I need Him to be, when I need Him. He goes before me and He follows me. His hand of blessing is on me and my life. Even when I am feeling the weight of the day, I must never forget that the light of God is guiding me through the dark places and even though I don’t understand it all, He will lead me through that tunnel of darkness, to the other side.
Just like God provided for the Israelites when He led them through their wilderness experience, He is doing just the same for you and me.
Nehemiah 9:19 (NLT) says,
“But in your great mercy you did not abandon them to die in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud still led them forward by day, and the pillar of fire showed them the way through the night.
God will never abandon us. His mercy is everlasting. Nothing is too big for Him, even when we have exhausted all that we have to give in a situation. That’s when God can step in and remove the clouds that are blocking His light of love. He can restore us and give back to us everything that Satan has tried to take from us, even those things that we didn’t even know were supposed to be ours. By faith, we can keep moving forward out of darkness into the illuminated blessings of God.
Let God Lead The Way!
