Didn’t I do this, yesterday?

Life can seem to go around in circles. We wake up. We get dressed. We go to work. We drive home. We undress. We go to sleep. Rinse and repeat. The same problems that were there yesterday are there today and will be there tomorrow, so it seems.

Take a look at our featured image for the day. Our lives can sometimes look and feel this way.

Old red brick wall damaged background

We are chipping away at our brick wall through prayer and seeking God in His Word, but as we attempt to tear down each piece, what is revealed is the concrete blockages of life. These hindrances in our breakthrough become visible and it appears as though we have not made any progress. Time and time again, we grow tired and weary.

God, I’m praying. I’m seeking you every single day. I see no change. What is going on?

Have you ever expressed this or something similar to God? Don’t worry! He is not going to fault you for asking. He wants us to bring our cares to Him and leave them at His feet.

Psalm 91:1 (NLT) says,
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Looking at how much additional “brick” we have to tear down, and then finding out that underneath it all, there is even more that requires special attention, well, that can be overwhelming. But, God’s Word tells us that when we live in the shelter of the Most High, rest is available to us in the shadow of the Almighty. We can find rest in Him from the weariness we find in trying to figure things out on our own.

When we don’t know what step to take next, God is here to help us.

In our own strength, we simply are not able to knock down that wall. However, God can and will give us a way around it, or better, yet, a way through it. In His timing and according to His will, He saves us from the struggle and gives us shelter and rest.

Psalm 37:40 (NLT) says,
The Lord helps them,
    rescuing them from the wicked.
He saves them,
and they find shelter in him

In whatever state we find our lives in, we are free to bring those broken pieces to the God of restoration. When all seems lost and our efforts remain futile, let’s set our sights not on the wall that is before us, but on the God who can shake the troubles loose in our lives and demolish what’s obstructing our way. He is the mastermind of our breakthrough and deliverance, which He can speak into existence with just one Word. We must remember where our help comes from.

It comes from the Lord!

Psalm 121:2 (NLT) says,
My help comes from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth!

Although our “Day In, Day Out” routine appears to never change, God is changing things in the unseen. He is always moving on our behalf. As we continue our walk of faith with the God of the impossible, one day, soon, we will look up and see the bright sun shining through.
