God is speaking to all of us, all the time. The question is not, to whom does God talk? The question is, who listens?

Spending quiet time with God is a way of finding out what He is speaking into our life. Every word received from heaven is not meant for someone else. Some are direct revelations, so that we personally will know where to go, what to do, how to think and what to say.

Through avenues, such as blog’s, podcasts, video’s, for example, we have been given a platform by which we are able to share; but, let’s also find ourselves, better yet, let me find myself hearing what God specifically has for me and not independently gliding through life.

Lord, speak to me. I have an ear to hear and a heart to receive. Show me what You want me to learn through this journey. Change me first, O God, so that I may show others the way.

Independence in life is important. We need to be free to live without being burdened with the hindrances that we often allow to take root in our lives or those obstacles that are placed upon us without our official acceptance. These often come to take away our ability to be independent and free.

This one’s for me, first.

However, when God speaks to my heart, in the place and time of His choosing, whether or not I understand why, I must grab hold to His promises and His plan for order and execution of steps within my life. I must reflect on His Word and give Him time to reveal what He has for me. In those moments, my job is to follow His leading and to relish in the truths that He has imparted in the midst of my state of affairs. He will give me the strength and courage to go with Him all the way.

Don’t you realize that we are nothing without him, but everything with him?

Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NLT) says,
23 This is what the Lord says:
Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom,
or the powerful boast in their power,
or the rich boast in their riches.
24 But those who wish to boast
should boast in this alone:
that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord
who demonstrates unfailing love
and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth,
and that I delight in these things.
I, the Lord, have spoken!

Knowing God and His heart for us will make things clear. We will no longer struggle with “my way or God’s way”. It pays to remember that God is approachable and patiently waiting for us to sit and listen for instruction.

As we begin our daily heart-to-heart conversations with God, let us follow this prescription for healing and deliverance.

  • PRAY

While re-reading Genesis 1:1 – 2:3, it caused me to think about how powerful God’s Word is. The scripture repeatedly says, “Then God said”.

The Result: “And there was” or “And that is what happened” or “And God saw that it was good”.

This demonstrates to us that God’s Word, what He speaks, is backed with the ultimate POWER. What He speaks to us is the source that keeps us going from day-to-day. Without it, we do not have what we need to illuminate our day. We need these flashes of power infused into our situations to keep us from falling and turning to our own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) says,
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.

When we invite Him into our days, allow Him to speak into our lives, and relinquish our independence in order to receive His protective covering, our lives will be filled with the power of God working in and through us.

Don’t independently glide through life. Listen. God speaks.
