God says speak. Some may want to put a voice to this message and others may choose to simply read. My job: to be obedient to the voice of God.

If it’s not one thing, it’s another.

Preface: I believe that God wants to use me through prayer and encouragement through my hard times to encourage others. Yes, God’s Word is enough all by itself, but we must also know how to practically make it through this journey; applying that Word to our individual circumstances. It (life, that is) is really hard sometimes and I believe that we need to honestly express that so that others will know that, “Hey, I’m not alone. She’s a follower of Christ or he’s a follower of Christ, but yet they have struggles, too. So, how do they make it through? What’s different about them? What do they hold on to in times of distress?” We need to know how to war and fight against the daily, and sometimes moment-by-moment attacks that come against us.

I never want my story to glorify Satan, but to rather, show in love, how God reaches down and rescues me. How sometimes I need His hand of mercy to shine forth in greater ways during different seasons of my walk with Christ. Do you know how I know that I am really starting to do what God has for me to do? Satan is attempting to make his appearance close to the finish line. But you know what? I already crossed the line when I accepted Jesus as my Savior. His attempts and his strategies that he uses to say, “Hey, look over here. Look at me instead of God.”, I am able to counteract his plan through prayer. So, I now proceed with my story…

Looking up at 6:17 pm, leaning forward on the couch, not really sure when I was going to settle down for the day; worn out, head spinning, thoughts of unrest, even  at the moment of originally writing this, were clouding my mind.

Fast forward to today.

Unfortunately, this was my past Saturday. Even after I posted “You Can Make it Through”, what was I attempting to do within my own day? Make it through! Hence the whole need and urgency to encourage myself in the Lord. Go figure. Laugh out loud, but not really! LOL

I woke up that morning neatly aligning my Bible, study books, and writing supplies, all geared up for some quality time spent with the Lord. Those moments sometimes get away from me due to distractions. Don’t you know that often our well intended plans get disrupted?

Intending for it to be a day of rest, somehow things got completely off track. It’s not so much that what was happening was horrible in the real earth shattering type of way, because boy have I experienced those horrid filled days, but things just kept occurring back-to-back to keep my focus off of God. That same underlying distraction that gnaws at the strings of my heart, had resurfaced, again! Worry was taking over my whole day.

Unfortunately, the enemy, Satan, does know how to distract us. He knows what causes us to stop thinking on the goodness of God and to start thinking about life and our struggles in it, such as they are. He definitely has attempted to perfect his number one game plan; to steal, kill, and destroy. That includes our joy and strength and just our overall purpose and reason to not look back but finish the process. Those are not just mere words that you read a lot on this blog, but a message that God desires that I get across to anyone who happens to continually read these words. So many are simply throwing in the towel because, unless you have some real perseverance and some fight in you to see this through to the finish line, that option can appear to be a viable one.

My own personal struggles this particular Saturday lead me to stop in the moment and say,

“God, I need Your help. Settle my thoughts and help me to learn to live above my circumstances.

Reviewing my day in my mind got me to thinking. Do you know what God spoke into my heart? Obedience does not mean instant deliverance. This warrants some special effects.

Obedience does not mean INSTANT deliverance.

I say that because I believe that I have entered the way of obedience to the plans that God has specifically for me, and is steadily continuing to reveal to me each day.  I have made steps of faith and have made Him my focus. Yet, most times I still feel as though I am in a dry desert land. The wilderness that I so long to be free of, yet surrounds me each day. Despite that, I am determined to keep my eye on the prize and allow God to continue to move in my life and elevate me above my circumstances. He is my hiding place. He protects me from trouble and surrounds me with songs of victory.

Psalms 32:7-8 (NLT) says,
7 For you are my hiding place;
you protect me from trouble.
You surround me with songs of victory.
8 The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.

You see, God is able to allow you and I to see the blue sky, and to rise above the chaos of our days. In spite of what may be going on around us, still in the thick of it all, He will allow us to feel His presence. He will provide us with joy because we find it in knowing that He is with us. That’s what’s different about us. We have the joy of the Lord. So even when our circumstances try to drag us down, we have joy in knowing that we are not alone. Like the hot air balloon in the picture above, we can find ourselves slowly, but surely, flying high above the clouds. We can experience the true peace of God. It can be storming beneath the clouds, but we can rest in Him.

But let me also say that our feelings, most times, are still playing catch up with our reality, but we mustn’t let them get the best of us.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT) is there to remind us,
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

So, today, regardless of what obstacles came about on Saturday, I am reassured within my soul that I can experience God’s peace and live above my circumstances.

The joy of the Lord, it really is my strength. The joy of the Lord, it really can be your strength.

Our season of breakthrough and breakaway from the hand of the enemy is NOW! My prayer is,

“Lord, unblock the blockages that Satan has tried to put in my way that keeps Your already approved blessings from flowing my way.”

The closer I get, the faster the fluctuating feelings come, but I will make it to the finish line.

What is it that I need to do?

Live above my circumstances.

How do I get there?

I need the shift of prayer that will provide the air that I need to push me up and out of the mud and the mire.

Psalms 40:2-3 (NLT)  says,
2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me as I walked along.
3 He has given me a new song to sing,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what he has done and be amazed.
They will put their trust in the Lord.

When I pray, He answers me and frees me from all my fears.

Psalms 34:4-6 (NLT) says,
4 I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
He freed me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;
no shadow of shame will darken their faces.
6 In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;
he saved me from all my troubles.

No matter what it feels like, call on the name of the Lord and He will answer. He will help you to live above your circumstances.

Heavenly father, I need you, O, I need you, every hour I need you, O bless me now, my Savior, I come to thee. (Shout out to Rachel D. Lyne. This song has been in my spirit since yesterday’s post.)
