How do you handle things when you no longer want to complete the assignment?

Hello and Welcome to My Faith Expressions.

Psalms 118:24 (NLT)
This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

I pray that your day is filled with joy, because no matter what it looks like, the joy of the Lord, it is your strength. It is my strength.

Word of Hope for Today:

Refocus and Trust in the God who is Controlling the Process!

“This wasn’t my plan. I never knew that this would be my life. I didn’t sign up for this. It is just all too much!” What if these were the words coming from your lips or circulating within your heart? Yet, you knew deep down within your soul that stopping would go against the plans that God has for you.

If we were to be honest with ourselves, we all, at one point or another, or possibly at this very moment, have wanted to cease from following through on what God has assigned our hands to do. We become tired and worn out in the day-to-day merry-go-round. Nothing changes. We have been in the fight, giving our all, and saying, “I won’t give up! I will believe! It’s only a test! This too shall pass! I’m going to make it.”

But, what do we do when enough is enough? How do we handle things when we no longer want to complete the assignment that God has placed before us?

Sometimes, it’s as simple as just making a decision and persevering and saying, I MUST make this choice. All that I have endured will not be wasted. I cannot throw in the towel. I will learn the lessons that I need to learn. I will push beyond the hurt and disappointment, discouragement and feelings of defeat. I know who wins in the end. God is good and He is going to bring good out of this.”

To summarize, we have to refocus and trust in the God who is controlling the process.

This decision is one that has to be made, even when the feelings of VICTORY have momentarily escaped us.

I have experienced and fully understand the overabundance of rampant emotions. I have said the words, “I CAN’T TAKE ANY MORE! THIS IS IT! I’M DONE!” Not done with God, but done with this lap of the race. “God there has to be something else that You want me to do? This can’t be all that there is to this life?”

I, however, am coming into the realization that God has so much more for me. If I don’t fight against my feelings, in order to grow and get to the place where He wants me to be, I just may be forfeiting the blessings that He has waiting for me when I cross the finish line of this particular test or trial.

Philippians 3:14 (NLT) says,
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

I’m not athletic in any sense of the word. Nonetheless, I can only imagine how it would feel to train, put in all of the extra hours, study, in some cases, all of the game plays, stay late, arrive early, and forfeit other things in life to make that sport my number one priority, just to end up quitting. In this rash decision, right when the season is about to start, we could very possibly end up saying, “I give up. I’m tired. I haven’t gotten any pleasure out of this. What’s the point? Nobody has even been watching me or paying me any attention. No one has been cheering me on. Where’s my trophy or my prize? I have nothing to show for all of this time. I quit. I’m not showing up to the game.”

How ridiculous does that sound not to complete the process? Not to press to reach the end and receive the prize or the reward of finishing the process.

Well, in our spiritual race with God, we cannot just shut down and decide that we don’t want to do this anymore. We have to realize that everything that we have given, including but not limited to our resources, our time, our heart and soul, that in the end, if not also here on earth, we will receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

If we don’t finish the process, we will never know who we can ultimately be in Christ Jesus. We will not reach our full potential. I know it gets rough sometimes. Trust me, I feel your level of exhaustion. I sense your confusion when you look at the circumstances and you can barely see the move of God. You know He is there. But the process is just about taking you under.

2 Corinthians 4:8 (NLT) says,
We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.

Nothing can separate us from the love of God, and no matter what may come or go, His love for us remains the same. And because of His love, He has already given us everything that we need to sustain us. When we become weak and tired, He allows the sun to go down and our body to rest, while He continues to work things for our good. Then, when we awaken in the morning, He has already loaded our day with new mercies to keep pressing and fighting to get to our designated finish line. We must refocus and remember this. I MUST REFOCUS AND REMEMBER THIS!

Psalms 118:13 (NIV) says,
I was pushed back and about to fall, but the Lord helped me.

The circumstances of life, or sometimes even the people in it, pushes us back; back in our walk with Christ, sometimes. Back in our emotions, to feelings of times past. Back in our resources, to where we have nothing to show for our efforts in life. Back in our level of trust, causing doubt and fear to ensue. It feels like we are on the verge of falling.

But the Lord helps us!

Oh what joy in knowing that when we feel as though we have reached our limit and enough is enough, God promises to help us. Even through the pain, He is sustaining us. I urge you to call out to Him. Release the stress and ask for a renewal of your mind. He is waiting to grant it and to give you just what you need.

You are more than enough, because you have the God who is enough and He can use you for His glory. So, Don’t look back. Finish the process.

I pray that you find comfort and strength by sticking around a bit and taking a peek at any posts that you may have missed this past week. If time allows, please feel free to catch up.

Be Blessed!
