When there are tests and trials and heart wrenching struggles, there is room for God to move. Counting it all joy is looking ahead to a better day. Its saying, “If I’m this low now, just think about how high God can elevate the circumstances of my life.”MY FAITH EXPRESSIONS
James 1:2-4 (NLT), a very familiar passage of Scripture says,
2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
Count it ALL joy. Wow! This seems virtually impossible. A word that has been interchanged with count is the word consider. To consider it an opportunity for great joy is to think ahead or to look ahead. When there are tests and trials and heart wrenching struggles, there is room for God to move. Counting it all joy or considering it an opportunity for great joy is looking ahead to a better day. It’s saying, “If I’m this low now, just think about how high God can elevate the circumstances of my life.”
In the midst of our trials, we have the gift of looking ahead to the joy of watching God work it for good. We can watch Him settle a situation or reverse circumstances. We can watch Him wipe the slate clean. If He did it before, He can do it again.
NOT ON MY WATCH will I give Satan any satisfaction of seeing me stay down. Yes! I may have fallen and appeared to have been weakened at the onset of what He meant for evil in my life, but I’m dusting the dirt from off of my feet and getting back up again. Why? Because under the watchful care of God, everything is going to be alright. God is the God of the impossible who can give me double for my trouble. He will, as Job said, allow me to come forth as gold.
Job 23:10 (NLT) says,
“But he knows where I am going.
And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.
This approach of looking ahead gives us a different perspective. We are not to focus on the moment, the pain of what’s happening right now, but we have the opportunity for great joy when we look at it as a chance to watch God work. We can witness first hand, from a front seat view, His miraculous power in our lives.
I see You God! You’re moving in the unseen. You’re working it all for good.
Psalms 16:8 (NLT) says,
I know the Lord is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
I don’t know about you, but I am determined to not let Satan win. When I become weak, I will reach toward heaven to the One who is the supplier of all my strength. I may have looked defeated on yesterday, but a new day has come. New mercies are mine. Satan will not get any satisfaction in seeing me crumble and give up in this fight; not on my watch.
I’m making a decision to…
- Catch that tear before it drops
- Take a deep breath
- Sit up straight
- Take that frown off my face, and
- Resist the devil because He has to flee
James 4:7 (NLT) says,
So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Let us think ahead to a better day and say and believe, “Not on my watch. Satan, you get no satisfaction over here!”
“You Are More
Don’t Look Back
Finish the Process”
