When things just do not seem to be going your way, remember who you are and WHOSE you are and build yourself up in Christ. You are God’s divine child who is blessed and surrounded with His everlasting shield of love.

Hello and Welcome to My Faith Expressions.

Here we are again, another day, another opportunity to allow the joy of the Lord to be our strength.

Word of Hope for Today:

You Can Hold On! You Can Be Strong! You Are Somebody in Christ!

Life in and of itself does not always leave us feeling encouraged. There may not always be someone walking beside us acting as our cheerleader, pushing and prodding us to keep the faith. No one may be shouting in our ear, “HOLD ON! BE STRONG!” We must find ourselves remembering who we are and WHOSE we are; building ourselves up in Christ Jesus.

How do we do this? It always goes back to the Word of God.

When we come to Christ, we are made new. Nothing from our past can harm us. Through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the slate has been wiped clean. We have been made righteous. It’s as if the sins we committed were never so.

Let us start there, by remembering the following.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT) says,
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

Accordingly, first and foremost, we must remember that we are not our past mistakes or missteps. We now belong to Christ because we believed and accepted Him into our lives and He is the author and finisher of our faith. We do not need to carry the weight of sin anymore. We can focus on keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.

Hebrews 12:1-2 (NLT) says,
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

We are made in His image. We are God’s chosen.

Genesis 1:27 (NLT) says,
So God created human beings in his own image.
In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

Deuteronomy 7:6 (NLT) says,
For you are a holy people, who belong to the Lord your God. Of all the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure.

He knows all about us and is always with us.

Psalms 139:1-18 (NLT) says,
1 O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
2 You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
3 You see me when I travel
and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do.
4 You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord.
5 You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!
7 I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!
8 If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I go down to the grave, you are there.
9 If I ride the wings of the morning,
if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
and your strength will support me.
11 I could ask the darkness to hide me
and the light around me to become night—
12 but even in darkness I cannot hide from you.
To you the night shines as bright as day.
Darkness and light are the same to you.
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
17 How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.
They cannot be numbered!
18 I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
you are still with me!

This blog post does not need a lot of extra words from me. The Word of God alone tells us who we are, and when affirmed each day, through our daily reading, we are building ourselves up in Christ.

Philippians 4:13 (NLT) says,
13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

You are called to be a peacemaker.

Colossians 3:15 (NLT) says,
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

You have been called to bear fruit.

Colossians 1:10 (NLT) says,
Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

You are blessed. You are the head and not the tail.

Deuteronomy 28:6 (NLT) says,
Wherever you go and whatever you do,
you will be blessed.

Deuteronomy 28:13 (NLT) says,
If you listen to these commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom.

You are more than a conqueror.

Romans 8:31 (NLT) says,
What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?

Romans 8:37 (NLT) says,
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

You can be confident in the God that you serve.

Mark 11:24 (NLT) says,
I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.

Therefore, you can wait on the Lord with confidence and hopeful expectation. This will increase your strength because you will be determined to see the move of God in every situation and will have the courage to persevere.

God sees you. He is never overlooking your cry for help.

Isaiah 40:27-31 (NLT) says,
27 O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles?
O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights?
28 Have you never heard?
Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
29 He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.
30 Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

Christ has redeemed you.

Galatians 3:13-14 (NLT) says,
13 But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” 14 Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith.

Psalms 5:12 (NLT) says,
For you bless the godly, O Lord;
you surround them with your shield of love.

Therefore, when things just do not seem to be going your way, remember who you are and WHOSE you are and build yourself up in Christ.

You are God’s divine child who is blessed and surrounded with His everlasting shield of love.

Never forget! Remember!

I pray that you find comfort and strength by sticking around a bit and taking a look at any posts that you may have missed this past week. If time allows, please feel free to catch up.
