Pray the Scriptures – My Prayer:
Lord, when I am left with lingering emotions of irritation and disappointment because of how another person chose to interact with me, help me to aim high, looking to Jesus as my example when someone has offended me.
Lord, I want to do all that I can to live in peace with everyone.
Help me to recognize when the intent is not to cause these feelings to emerge within, but that a greater purpose and good is the end result. I mustn’t allow my emotions to control or dictate how I move forward in that connection. I must choose to set my feelings aside and do what is best to allow Your good plan to prevail.
So then, I will aim for harmony in the church, and outside, and will try to build others up, as Your Word encourages me to do. I want to be found walking in total obedience when You return for me. I will aim high when others seemingly go low, for only You know the intent of their heart. I will not try to determine or read into anything, as that was a passing moment. I will not get worked up as Satan intended; because, if I step back and reflect on past exchanges, then I will know their heart and that the intent was not ill will.
Sensible people control their temper; they earn respect by overlooking wrongs.
I will recognize the hand of Satan who comes to bring strife and chaos where none is warranted. I will not react out of emotion, but will pray for guidance and direction. I will quiet myself so that my good cannot be evil spoken of. I will follow the order that You have set and I will not allow this one moment of conflict to destroy a bond and the purpose that You intend for my life.
A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted.
Lord, I aim to walk in wisdom and to follow your example of great love. Jesus suffered many emotional afflictions, but yet, He still chose to die upon the cross for the sins of those who did not receive Him, who turned against Him and said all types of erroneous things. I will aim high and look for the good in every exchange that takes place. I will be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
Thank You for allowing me to step back, seek You, and aim high for victory.
This I pray in Jesus’ Name. Not my will but Your will be done. For Your Glory! Amen.
